Managing Addictions

The National Addictions Management Service (NAMS) provides treatment for behavioural addictions such as problem gambling and internet addiction, as well as substance addictions such as alcohol and drugs.

Gambling addiction is a disease much like alcohol and drug addictions. Problem gamblers have difficulties controlling their gambling behaviour which increases over time in terms of frequency, time spent on gambling and money wagered.

Living with an addicted person in the family is not easy. It is important for family members to understand the process of addiction and how you can best help your loved one during treatment and recovery. You should not neglect your own, and your other family members’ needs. With help, most of us would be able to overcome the difficulties.
