Phase 1 Medically-Managed Detoxification Programme (7 days)

Objective: Relieve acute emotional, behavioural and physical distress resulting from the use of substances, and prepare and motivate the patient for the rehabilitation phase.

This phase focuses on:

• Management of withdrawal symptoms through medication and nursing care
• Providing round-the-clock medical care
• Understanding withdrawal symptoms
• Understanding medical complications
• Motivation enhancement
• Challenges of quitting addictions

• Assessment of the patient’s medical and rehabilitation needs
• Patient’s willingness to follow the treatment programme
